The Music on Norway Pond 2025–2026 season opens with an intimate house concert at the Simpson home featuring soprano Brittney Redler and composer-pianist Zach Redler. Brittney is a versatile performer whose work spans opera, concert, musical theater, and contemporary styles, with a passion for premiering new works that blend genres. Zach is an award-winning composer and music director whose work has been commissioned and performed by opera companies and theaters across the country, and who spent fifteen years on the music teams of Broadway shows. Together, Brittney and Zach bring artistry, innovation, and heart to the stage — the perfect way to launch a new season of music in our community.


Brittney Redler

Brittney Redler

Brittney Redler is a versatile soprano, actor, and teacher whose performances span opera, concert, musical theater, and contemporary styles. She has a special passion for premiering new works in musical theater and opera that explore and blend genres, and her career reflects a balance of performance, teaching, and scholarship. Brittney earned her Ph.D. in Vocal Performance from New York University, where she focused on pedagogy, teaching efficacy, and voice science, and she also holds degrees from NYU and Ithaca College, along with training at the Summer Vocology Institute.

As an educator, Brittney has taught voice at NYU Steinhardt, directed choirs and music programs in New York, Connecticut, and South Carolina, and worked with young singers through after-school programs in the Bronx. In her private studio, she coaches a wide range of artists, from opera professionals and Broadway performers to singer-songwriters and developing voices. She also presents regularly on topics such as mindfulness for musicians, functional voice science, and strategies for healthy, expressive singing.


Zach Redler

Zach Redler is a composer, musicologist, music director, pianist, and educator whose work has been performed in concert halls, opera houses, and theaters around the world. They are the recipient of the American Theatre Wing’s Jonathan Larson Award, ASCAP’s Max Dreyfus Award, and the American Prize for Opera Composition. Zach has received commissions from Seattle Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Washington National Opera, Opera Montana, Opera Memphis, Arizona Opera, San Diego Opera, Opera on the James, American Opera Projects, and the United States Army Field Band and Soldiers Chorus. 

As a musicologist, Zach’s research on and publications of Marcel Tyberg’s music has culminated in multiple world premieres as well as three GRAMMY nominations for South Dakota Chorale's performance of Tyberg's Masses. Zach spent fifteen years working on the music teams of musicals on Broadway and around the world including Come From Away, Bright Star, First Date, Gigi, and I Am Harvey Milk.

Zach has served on the music faculties of New York University (2007-2022), Manhattan School of Music (2022), and Molloy College (2020-2022). Zach holds 200 and 500hr yoga teacher training certificates, practices Reiki, leads meditations in their community, and enjoys running long distances. 

Currently, Zach mentors opera writers as a part of Seattle Opera’s Creative Lab and is the Director of Music at the Dublin School in New Hampshire.
