Winners of the American Trombone Workshop’s National Trombone Quartet Competition, the ensemble features four rising stars: Devin Drinan ’27, Noah Korenfeld ’24/’26 MM, Alvin Ho ’26 MM, and Charlie Johnson ’26 MM.

Aidan Davidson

An active trombonist in the Boston area, Aidan is a tenor trombonist that enjoys creating great music with others. He has performed with groups such as the Metrowest Symphony Orchestra, Brookline Symphony Orchestra, Horizon Ensemble, and was a member of the New England Philharmonic Orchestra as Principal Trombone. Originally from Poughkeepsie, New York, Aidan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Trombone Performance from Boston Conservatory at Berklee, where he studied with Larry Isaacson and Norman Bolter. Aidan is continuing his education at New England Conservatory, where he is pursuing a Master’s degree with Steve Lange of the Boston Symphony.

Alvin Ho

A native of Hong Kong, tenor trombonist Alvin Tsz Yin Ho was appointed Principal Trombone of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta in 2025. He has also performed as Principal Trombone with the Macao Orchestra under Maestro Lio Kuokman and was a substitute musician with the Houston Grand Opera.

Ho’s artistry has been recognized in numerous competitions, earning top prizes at the International Trombone Festival, including winner of the Gilberto Gagliardi Solo Competition and the Remington Trombone Choir Competition. He has also been a finalist in multiple concerto and solo competitions, showcasing his consistent excellence on the international stage.

Equally active as a chamber and ensemble performer, Ho has appeared with the Austin Brass Collective and participated in the Chautauqua School of Music Instrumental Program in 2023 and 2024 under full scholarships, in which he had the opportunity to share the same stage with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center. Ho has also won the 2025 American Trombone Workshop Quartet Competition with his 224 Trombone Quartet, under the mentor of James Markey, the bass trombonist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. His collaborations include performances with distinguished world-class soloists such as Brian Hecht, Megumi Kanda, Caleb Hudson, and Jörgen van Rijen.

In addition to his live performances, Ho has contributed to recording projects such as the Arnold Rosner Recording Project with Density512, released on the classical label Toccata Classics. His orchestral and chamber work has taken him to major venues including Carnegie Hall, where he performed with the University of Texas Wind Ensemble under Maestro Jerry Junkin.

Awarded the Taylor Endowed Presidential Scholarship and Shawn Campbell Endowed Scholarship in Trombone, Ho earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from the University of Texas at Austin under the mentor of Professor Nathaniel Brickens; and is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree at the New England Conservatory, studying with Steve Lange of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

Noah Korenfeld

Noah Korenfeld is an accomplished trombonist from Wildwood, Missouri, recognized for his versatility and growing presence in the orchestral world. He frequently performs as a substitute with renowned ensembles including the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Boston Pops, as well as the New World Symphony and The Florida Orchestra. His summers have featured engagements with the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra in 2023 and 2025, as well as the Brevard Music Center Orchestral Institute and the Southeast Trombone Symposium. Noah has also participated in masterclasses with leading artists such as Peter Moore, Peter Steiner, and Michael Mulchay, further refining his artistry and technical command.

Currently pursuing his Master of Music at the New England Conservatory of Music, where he also earned his Bachelor of Music, Noah studies under BSO Principal Trombone Toby Oft, and previously studied with BSO Second Trombone Stephen Lange and St. Louis Symphony Associate Principal Trombone Amanda Stewart. His performance experience has been guided by eminent conductors including Andris Nelsons, Stéphane Denève, and Leonard Slatkin, as well as chamber coaches James Markey, Norman Bolter, and David Jackson. In addition to his performance career, Noah has contributed to the musical community as a Resident Assistant at NEC and as an Instructor for the Lafayette High School Marching Band, demonstrating a strong commitment to both excellence and mentorship in the field of music.

Charles Johnson

Charles Johnson is a bass trombonist currently pursuing a Master of Music degree at the New England Conservatory and studies with James Markey. He is a two-time fellow of the Music Academy of the West (2022, 2025), where he performed on the Picnic Concert series and was a finalist in the 2025 Duo Competition. In 2023, he was selected as a Tanglewood Music Center fellow, performing in orchestral, chamber, and contemporary settings alongside world-renowned artists and conductors.

A native of Amarillo, Texas, Charles earned his Bachelor of Music degree from the Colburn School Conservatory of Music, where he studied with David Rejano-Cantero, principal trombonist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. He has performed with distinguished ensembles including the Boston Pops, Naples Philharmonic, Jacksonville Symphony, and Los Angeles Philharmonic, gaining recognition for his versatility and expressive musicianship.

An active educator and clinician, Charles has presented masterclasses at Boise State University and West Texas A&M University, where he also served as guest artist for the WTAMU Spring Trombone Festival. His musical interests span orchestral, solo, and chamber repertoire, and he remains deeply committed to expanding the role of the bass trombone in contemporary performance.
